Kristin Clarens has been working as a volunteer advocate at the border since 2007 and is an active community volunteer for immigrants within the Charlottesville-Albemarle region. After working in the Washington, D.C. office of Paul Hastings' international law group for more than 13 years, she joined the Legal Aid Justice Center in 2019 as coordinator of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyer Program.
Clarens graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School in 2005 and has degrees from Northwestern University's Medill College of Journalism and the University of Michigan Honors College. She is also co-founder of Project Adelante, a coalition of professionals focused on providing multidisciplinary support for families affected by US immigration policies.
Clarens teaches Board Policy and Politics at the Law School.
